S1 E76 | Chasing Waterfalls in Pakse – Tad Fane and Tad Yuang
After crossing into Laos and settling into Pakse in the last episode, we dedicated one full day to exploring the spectacular waterfalls hidden just an hour outside the city.
The morning started early, as we had only one day before catching our onward bus. We rented a motorbike and set out for Tad Fane waterfall, a majestic twin cascade deep in the Lao rainforest. Standing at the viewpoint, it reminded us of Jog Falls back in Karnataka, except with two powerful streams plunging dramatically into a misty gorge. Tad Fane is known for its unique microclimate — cool, fresh, and unlike the usual tropical heat. The crisp air made the whole setting feel magical, with rainforest plants thriving all around. We even watched a brave soul zipline across the valley, suspended above the roar of the falls.
From there, we rode onward to Tad Yuang waterfall, which quickly became our favorite. Before we even reached the falls, we were captivated by the clear, ice-cold river flowing through the forest. Unlike many of the brown rivers we had seen earlier in Laos, this one sparkled in shades of blue and green. For us, it brought back memories of our first visit to Laos in 2018 — a reminder of how nature here always left us humbled. Sitting by the water, dipping our feet in the icy current, and listening to the sound of the falls was pure serenity.
This vlog captured more than just two waterfalls — it was about the joy of slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and realizing that some of the most beautiful places in the world remain hidden away in quiet corners.
Pakse kinda grew on us.
