S1 E06 | Work Day in Paradise, Dog Encounters & Vegetarian Thali

Vlogs

Somewhere between Day 5 and Day 6, we’ve lost track of time—probably the best sign that we’ve finally sunk into island life.

The morning began lazily under coconut trees, with Shishira filming Reels while I set up for a full work day: video edits piling up, photos waiting to be sorted, and even some travel planning for after the Andamans. For once, we weren’t chasing beaches or buses—we were chasing deadlines (with ocean views).

We also tried out a new mic setup for the vlog. It’s bulkier, but hopefully clearer. You’ll notice the difference in today’s video—let us know which audio you prefer!

Of course, no day here is complete without the beach calling. A short walk through the resort’s palm grove led us straight to Vijayanagar Beach, where high tide brought the water right up to the tree line. Along the way, we met an entire pack of dogs. Cute for me, but not so much for Shishira—she’s been hilariously keeping score of all the “animal encounters” that unsettle her. Yesterday it was dogs, today it was cows too.

By lunch we were starving, so we set out for Salt & Pepper, hoping to try their famous rajma rice. No luck—vegetarian dishes weren’t available. Plan B: Shakahari, a popular local joint that had been full the previous day. This time we got in!

The thali was simple but satisfying: two rotis, rice, dal, curry, sambar, and cucumber slices. Delicious but a little on the smaller side—we joked about needing a “second lunch” somewhere else.

The afternoon was all about editing—we managed to finish two full videos, our most productive day so far. With a decent backlog ready, we’re planning to test a more consistent upload schedule, maybe even daily.

Evening brought us back to the beach. At low tide, the water receded so far we could walk almost a kilometer into the shallows, past patches of dead coral and glass-clear pools. Magical, even with the ever-present troop of beach dogs keeping us on edge.

We ended the day with a comforting dinner at our resort: paneer and mixed-veg subzis, dal, chapatis, papad, and a mountain of rice. Simple, hearty, perfect.

Today may have been a “work day,” but between beaches, dogs, and thalis, it still felt like an Andaman adventure.

Catch it all—the mic test, the Shakahari thali, the coral walk, and the bloopers—in today’s vlog!
