S1 E20 | Chidiya Tapu and Sunset Point: Birdwatching and Scenic Beaches in Port Blair

Vlogs

On this episode, we explore Chidiya Tapu, one of Port Blair’s most scenic spots and a paradise for birdwatchers. The area is famous for its lush greenery, diverse bird population, and peaceful beaches.

We traveled there using the Go-Go Bus, a convenient hop-on-hop-off electric bus service that takes you to multiple attractions around Port Blair. For a small fee of INR 60 per person (one-way), it dropped us right at the entrance, saving a 3 km walk from the nearest town.

At Chidiya Tapu, we visited the biological park, which, though a bit overgrown, is home to butterflies, birds, and saltwater crocodiles. The butterfly house seemed to have some maintenance issues, but the forest itself felt like walking through a mini Jurassic Park.

Next, we headed to Sunset Point, a beautiful small beach just between the biological park and Mundapahar Beach. Here, the gentle waves, rustling trees, and abundance of bird songs make it perfect for a relaxed, rustic experience. While the best sunset spot is slightly further, Sunset Point offers a serene and scenic view.

This day in Port Blair was a blend of nature, wildlife, and coastal beauty—a must-visit for anyone who loves beaches, birds, or just a quiet retreat away from the city.
