S1 E13 | Budget Stay, Cycling & Sunset at Neil Island’s Lakshmanpur Beach
Good morning from Neil Island! We kicked off the day with a simple but delicious breakfast—puri bhaji. Four crisp puris served with a spicy aloo and chana gravy, full of flavor and perfect fuel for a day of exploring.
Back at our hotel, we finally filmed a little room tour. For just ₹500 a night, this was the cheapest stay we’ve found in the Andamans. The room is basic but surprisingly comfortable with a firm bed, a small desk that doubles as our workspace, and even a TV for movie nights since internet here is patchy. The real highlight, though, is the spacious bathroom—big, airy, and a luxury we missed in other budget stays. Outside, there’s a rope for drying laundry and a tiny garden full of flowers and butterflies, making the whole space peaceful and homely.
After settling in, we rented bicycles from a local shop—₹150 per day per cycle—and set off along the Lakshmanpur Beach road. The ride took us past thick jungle, lush farmland, and winding paths that felt both wild and serene. Cycling here is easily the best way to experience Neil Island’s raw beauty, and it quickly became our favorite activity of the trip.
We stopped for a simple lunch at Sea Green Resort—dal, plain rice, and lemon juice. Nothing fancy, but wholesome and soothing after the ride. Later in the evening, we headed back on our cycles to Lakshmanpur Sunset Point. The road narrowed under towering trees until it finally opened up to the beach. Watching the sunset here felt magical, with the sky glowing and the sea reflecting every shade.
Right by the shore, we found a small stall called Kacho Fast Food, serving snacks like Maggi, tea, and chaat. We tried muri—puffed rice mixed with spices and chutneys—served in leaf spoons. Tangy, lightly spicy, and eco-friendly in its presentation, it was the perfect snack to end the day.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, we sat by the sea, enjoying the view, the breeze, and the sound of waves. A budget hotel, a bicycle ride, simple meals, and a stunning sunset—this is what travel on Neil Island is all about: affordable, peaceful, and unforgettable.
