S1 E68 | First Impressions of Battambang – A Peaceful Evening in Cambodia
After a long ride, we finally reached Battambang, Cambodia. It was already evening by the time we stepped out of our room, and while the day had been uneventful, this was our first real chance to experience the city.
Just before leaving, we had something exciting to share—we’d recently launched a Kannada-language YouTube channel! From now on, our vlogs go up in both English and Kannada, each filmed authentically rather than dubbed. It was something we had been meaning to do for a while, and Battambang became the backdrop for this new chapter in our journey.
As we wandered around, we found ourselves in a quiet park where a group of monks had gathered. Some were chatting, others were just sitting peacefully, and it felt like such a calm start to our time here. Later, we grabbed a simple dinner—fried rice, a vegetable sandwich, and iced tea. Small food stalls around the city offered free drinking water, a thoughtful gesture that made us appreciate the community vibe even more.
Battambang didn’t overwhelm us with big tourist sights that evening, but that was exactly what made it special. The atmosphere was laid-back, the streets calm, and the people warm. It was a welcome pause after busy days of constant movement.
We signed off the night by making plans for tomorrow—a full-day tuk-tuk tour with a local driver. For once, we decided to give ourselves a break from scooters under the hot sun and instead explore Battambang from a more local perspective.
This vlog is part of our YouTube travel series, where we share raw and real moments from our journey around the world. Battambang was just beginning to reveal itself, and we couldn’t wait to see more.
