S1 E40 | Pattaya Adventures: Sunset Beaches, Walking Street, and First-Time Experiences
After a long overnight journey, we finally arrived in Pattaya, ready to explore this vibrant city despite being tired from travel. Shishira was resting in our hotel, so I decided to take a walk during the last hours of daylight to capture the energy and charm of our surroundings.
Our hotel, Scandalic Bar, is right in the heart of Pattaya, just 400 meters from the beach. As I stepped outside, the sun was setting, painting the sky with soft hues over the water. Surprisingly, the beach wasn’t crowded yet, as many businesses were still opening up. Small groups of locals and tourists were beginning to gather, hinting at the lively evening that awaited.
Pattaya is known for water sports like jet skiing, speed boating, and parasailing. Visitors can also take ferries or speed boats to Coral Island (Koh Larn) for activities like snorkeling and scuba diving. Sunset at the beach is especially captivating, drawing both locals and tourists to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
Walking through the streets near our hotel, the neighborhood was buzzing with bars, restaurants, and loud music. One striking detail was the abundance of Indian restaurants—at least one per block—making it easy for travelers to find familiar flavors.
While food here can be more expensive than Bangkok, there are plenty of options, including street food stalls where you can grab a quick bite to eat. During my walk, I picked up snacks and fruits from a nearby vendor and 7-Eleven.
Later, Shishira joined me, and we explored Walking Street, Pattaya’s famed nightlife hub. Neon lights, colorful bars, and lively crowds created an unforgettable atmosphere. It was our first time experiencing this side of the city together, and it offered a mix of curiosity, excitement, and reflection on the unique local culture.
While Pattaya can feel touristy and expensive, with some dishes costing double compared to Bangkok, the vibrant energy, street food, and unforgettable sights make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Pattaya in a single day was chaotic, colorful, and full of surprises. From the serene sunset beaches to the buzzing Walking Street, the city is alive from dusk till late at night. Tomorrow, we head back to Bangkok to continue our Thailand adventure, but Pattaya’s charm and energy will surely remain a memorable highlight of our journey.
